I’ve struggled recently with my skin. I’m 90% sure it’s all hormonal because I have been hellish to know and be around in the past month or so but it has not been fun. I put a lot of work into my skincare so beating those hormonal breakouts is important to me. Here’s what I’ve been using to do just that…
I spoke about this babe of a product in my mini glossier favourites round-up which you can find here. But in short, it’s great. It’s helped my blackheads, whiteheads and has completely refined the texture of my skin. When I get a new spot, this helps them fade quickly and healthily – never scarring or burning my skin.
KIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL MOISTURISER
My favourite night time moisturiser of all time. It smoothes, calms my spots, fades scars and restores my skin before a busy day. I’ve never found something that makes my skin feel so hydrated for such a long time. Highly recommend this.
THE ORDINARY SALICYLIC ACID
A firm favourite that really works. Salicylic acid is the ultimate queen of killing big, nasty spots. I look for salicylic acid in skincare products all the time. It kills them quickly, kills them properly, reduces redness and inflammation.
THE ORDINARY NIACINAMIDE + ZINC
This one is a new love too. I tried the Glossier Super Pure Serum and I fell head-over-heels for it and what it did for my skin. But it’s pricey for what it is. Luckily The Ordinary came in and saved me as they always do with almost the entirely same product for a lot cheaper than the Glossier version. It’s great at restoring my skin, calming areas of redness and clearing up breakouts.
ELIZABETH ARDEN EIGHT HOUR CREAM
An oldie but a goodie. It’s great for my dry lips but in terms of breakouts it does great things too. I predominantly use this to cover a spot before I’m putting makeup on. It really helps with healing and acts as a barrier to keep the spot from spreading. At night I add a bit onto dry areas too. If you have this product and haven’t tried this, do it.
SOAP & GLORY THE FAB PORE
I mention this over and over and you might be sick of it but here I am again. Damnnnnnn Elana, back it it with The Fab Pore. It’s just too good to not include. It’s a green mask with a menthol scent that just clears everything up and heals the big angry ones that appear out fo nowhere. Afterwards my skin feels so smooth, soft and fresh – leaving me with a wonderful glow. For a more in-depth review check out this post here.
Other than the above mentioned, I recommend trying the Origins Super Spot Remover and most of the products I mentioned in my holy grail skin care post which you can find here. Good luck and remember, don’t let the hormones win. You got this gal.
